A Message of Hope

Our Lady comes to Garabandal, Spain 1961 - 1965

Situated in the Cantabrian Mountains of northwest Spain, San Sebastian de Garabandal is a small hamlet of some 80 dwellings.

For centuries the people of this humble and remote village have gathered together daily for the recitation of the rosary and litanies of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Garabandal is unique in the history of Marian apparitions, with the Blessed Virgin Mary appearing over 2000 times from July 2, 1961 until November 13, 1965.

Our Lady gave two important Messages for the world.  The first message was on the 18th October 1961 and the second on the 18th of June 1965. The Messages of Garabandal have to do with our conversion of heart.  We must ask forgiveness for our sins and strive to lead good lives.

The Visionaries

Our Visionaries Between 1961-1965 Our Lady of Mt Carmel appeared to four, simple, unsophisticated girls, Conchita Gonzalez, Mari Loli Mazon, Jacinta Gonzalez and Mari Cruz Gonzalez, aged between 11 and 12, in the village of San Sebastian de Garabandal, Spain. Whilst surnames of three of the girls are identical, they are unrelated. The visionaries were first visited by an angel, later identified as St Michael the Archangel whose mission was to prepare them for Our Lady’s visit and to be her messengers.

Our Lady of Garabandal prophisied the following:

  • A widespread communist tribulation.
  • A world-wide Warning from God to correct the conscience of the world.
  • A great Miracle to occur at Garabandal within a year of the warning.
  • A permanent Sign will be left at the Pines after the Miracle.
  • A conditional Chastisement from God if people do not amend their ways.
